Sub-Forum Highlights: Build Innovation & Collaborative Ecosystem for Biopharma Supply Chain
Membrane Material Innovation: Setting a “New Benchmark” for Filter Performance
Co-hosted by Alioth and Tongxieyi, the sub-forum gathered senior experts from various fields, including industry, investment, and regulation. They engaged in in-depth dialogues on topics such as industrial strategy, process innovation, regulatory compliance, and engineering equipment. The forum was fully packed with an enthusiastic atmosphere.

Opening Address: Innovation as a Sword to Break Global Barriers
Jia Qijun, Founder and Chairman of Alioth, delivered the opening address. He pointed out that supply chain resilience and innovation are the cornerstones of high-quality industrial development. He stated that this sub-forum, themed “Build Innovation & Collaborative Ecosystem for Biopharma Supply Chain,” aims to unite industry forces and drive the upgrading of China’s biopharmaceutical supply chain from manufacturing to creation. During his speech, he officially announced the global debut of Alioth’s proprietary virus removal membrane and proprietary membrane-based sterilizing-grade filter.![]()

Industry Insights: The Evolution and Globalization Opportunities of China’s Bioprocessing Industry
Dr. Ian Carmichael, Senior Vice President of Alioth, delivered a keynote speech titled “Evolution and Globalization Opportunities of China’s Bioprocess Industry.” Dr. Ian pointed out that China’s biopharmaceutical industry is undergoing a leap from “Made in China” to “Created in China.” In the first half of 2026, domestic biopharmaceutical out-licensing BD transactions grew by over 73% year-on-year, with 80% of ADC assets licensed overseas originating from China. Facing the global industrial environment in the VUCA era, multinational pharmaceutical companies generally adopt a decentralized strategy across North America, Europe, and China. For Chinese bioprocessing suppliers aiming to go global, he proposed three core insights:
• Zero tolerance for quality errors to avoid a single mistake triggering an overall negative perception.
• Ensuring supply elasticity to maintain domestic service levels of the same caliber.
• Providing an excellent business cooperation experience and reasonable pricing oriented towards optimizing Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), rather than relying on low-price competition.

Global Launch of New Products: Two Proprietary Filtration Products Unveiled
In the presence of all guests, Alioth’s proprietary virus removal membrane and proprietary membrane-based sterilizing-grade filter were officially launched globally. Mr. Gu Weijun, Senior President of the Expert Committee(CPAPE), attended and delivered a speech. President Gu pointed out that in 2026, the globalization of China’s innovative drugs has entered “deep waters,” and the resilience, efficiency, and compliance capabilities of the supply chain have become core competitive advantages. He emphasized that true localization “is not about replicating others’ products, but about holding the power to define standards in the hands of the Chinese people themselves.” He noted that global competition in biopharmaceuticals has upgraded from exporting single products to the global output of the entire supply chain.

Gu Weijun, Senior President of the Director of the Expert Committee, CPAPE
Ma Zhao, Vice President of Strategy and Marketing at Alioth, presented a talk themed “Membrane Material Innovation: Setting a ‘New Benchmark’ for Filter Performance,” introducing Alioth’s innovative R&D achievements and proprietary products in the field of membrane materials. Since its establishment, the company has adhered to underlying technological innovation in membrane materials and established dual R&D centers in Boston and Shanghai. It has built a systematic and international R&D team spanning membrane R&D, membrane production, filter R&D, validation, and application.
Alipore® EZ Series Sterilizing-Grade Filters
Breakthroughs have been achieved in three aspects: underlying chemical formulation of the membrane material, multi-layer co-casting membrane production process, and innovative hydrophilic modification technology. This breaks the “impossible triangle” of high throughput & high capacity, strong bacterial retention, and low protein absorption. Without the need for pre-wetting, it can withstand over 50 SIP sterilization cycles. Protein adsorption is significantly lower than that of similar PES membrane filters, and the filtration loading capacity reaches 150%-200% of that of leading international products.
Ali-ViroClear™ Virus Removal Membrane
Featuring a multi-layer highly asymmetric membrane structure, it ensures virus retention meets regulatory requirements while possessing flux and filtration capacity far exceeding those of top international brands. The membrane performance has been fully validated through actual test data from over 20 sets of different protein feedstocks at client sites.
During the launch ceremony, guests from various pharmaceutical companies, industry associations, and investment institutions took the stage together to officially launch the Alioth virus removal membrane and proprietary sterilizing-grade filter.
