On September 12, the 2026 Yangtze River Delta JuJin Science & Innovation Competition wrapped up its national final in Shanghai. After preliminary, semi-final, and final rounds, Alioth walked away with the Growth Group Silver Award — out of 368 teams — for our project "R&D and Industrialization of High-Performance Filtration Membrane Materials for Biopharmaceuticals."

ALIOTH Wins Silver in the Growth Group

The competition was co-hosted by Fudan University School of Management and the Shanghai Yangtze River Delta Commercial Innovation Research Institute. Of 368 entries, 44 teams reached the national final, and 77% of them were chasing domestic substitution or breaking through bottleneck technologies.

This silver award tells us our bet on biopharmaceutical filtration is paying off — and that sticking with in-house R&D on core technologies was the right call.

On-Site at the Grand Final

It didn't come overnight; it's the result of years of plugging away at high-performance membrane materials. A few of those core technologies are now moving from the lab to the market:

Alipore® EZ Series Sterilizing-Grade Filter: Built on Alioth's own membrane tech, the EZ series is now on the market. We broke through on three fronts — the base membrane chemistry, a multi-layer co-cast manufacturing process, and a new hydrophilic modification step — and finally cracked what used to be a trade-off: you couldn't get high flux, tight bacterial retention, and low protein adsorption all at once. EZ does. That's what makes aseptic production in biopharma dependable.

Ali-ViroClear™ Virus Filter: Our virus filter is close to launch. It uses a multi-layer asymmetric membrane that clears virus to regulatory spec while pushing flux and capacity well past the international leaders. We've run it on more than 20 different protein feedstreams at customer sites, and the numbers hold up.

Adding virus filtration rounds out the portfolio and gives biopharma processes a fuller filtration toolkit. We're not rushing — we're turning each breakthrough into something customers can actually use, one step at a time. And we're not stopping here: high-performance membranes are where we stay, and we'll keep pushing so China's biopharma industry doesn't have to lean on imports.
